Second GNU Cabinet Lekgotla set to begin in Pretoria on Tuesday – SABC News
The second Cabinet Lekgotla of the Government of National Unity (GNU) for the year will kick off at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria later on Tuesday.
The two-day meeting brings together ministers and their deputies from the ten GNU parties, premiers, directors-general and leadership of the South African Local Government Association (SALGA).
The Lekgotla will set government priorities, review progress on key programmes, and align strategies across national departments.
Ministers will use this gathering as a platform to coordinate policies, assess, among others, service delivery performance and the country’s readiness to host the G20 Summit, as well as discuss measures to strengthen governance, economic growth, and social development.
The outcomes of this Cabinet Lekgotla will make inputs into the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) or mini budget scheduled for the 12th of November.
The meeting will also inform the government’s policy direction and legislative agenda for the coming months.
