Cape Town firefighters manage to contain Deer Park blaze – SABC News

The City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service says a fire that broke out at Deer Park near Vredehoek on Tuesday has been contained.

Spokesperson Jermaine Carelse says crews will conduct assessments of the affected area on Wednesday morning to check for any remaining hotspots.

Carelse says they worked closely with Table Mountain National Park and the Volunteer Wildfire Service to contain the blaze.

“It is a timely reminder to the public of how easily wildfires can start and as we head into the warmer months, we appeal to everyone to do their bit for fire safety, whether vegetation or structural. A comprehensive summary of fire prevention and safety tips is available on the City’s website.”
