Goodwood social housing project wins Silver at global IPMA awards
The DCI Social Housing Project in Goodwood has earned international recognition, taking home a Silver award in the “Social Project of the Year” category at the International Project Management Association (IPMA) Global Project Excellence Awards 2025, held at the Axica Congress Centre in Berlin, Germany.
The accolade was presented during the IPMA’s 60th Awards Gala, which saw projects from across the globe competing for top honours. The award highlights the project’s role in expanding access to affordable, dignified housing while fostering inclusive communities in Cape Town.
Chief Executive Officer of DCI Community Housing Services, Fezile Calana, expressed his pride in the achievement:.
“This award belongs to every partner and every family who believed in the vision of the DCI Social Housing Project. It is proof that when the private sector, government, and agencies work hand in hand, we can deliver projects that change lives. We are honoured to bring this recognition home.”
The Goodwood project exemplifies DCI’s mission to “develop, own and manage affordable rental housing opportunities close to employment and transport nodes, social amenities and related public services.”
The project’s success was made possible through collaboration with several key stakeholders, including the Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA), the Infrastructure Fund, PRASA, the City of Cape Town, the Western Cape Provincial Government, and the National Department of Human Settlements.
Kelly Arendse represented the City of Cape Town at the awards ceremony and received the accolade on behalf of the project team.
The recognition adds to Cape Town’s strong showing at the IPMA Awards, where the City also earned Silver for PMO of the Year and Gold for Diversity, Inclusion & Equity.
The DCI Social Housing Project in Goodwood now stands as a flagship example of excellence, innovation, and collaboration within South Africa’s social housing sector.
