R1,500 dinner dash ends in dish duty and a police escort

A man who thought he could make a run for it after racking up a R1,500 food bill was stopped in his tracks and pay for his bilking attempt.

Earlier this week, Ensure Security was alerted to an incident at a well-known restaurant along Durban’s popular Florida Road.

Spokesperson, Kyle van Reenen, said the man has consumed food to the value of more than R1,500 and when the bill came, he told staff that he did not have money.

“Before our team arrived on scene, the restaurant manager made the suspect walk to the back of the business where he was made to wash the dirty dishes while he waited for law enforcement to arrive,” he said.

Van Reenen said police attended and the suspect was taken into custody.

“A case of bilking has been officially opened,” he added.
