ANC to counterclaim against Ezulweni after asset seizure order – SABC News
The African National Congress (ANC) says it will pursue a counterclaim against Ezulweni Investments for all payments made to date after the marketing company obtained a court order on Friday to seize the ANC’s assets for monies owed by the party.
According to the widely circulated letter of the sheriff, the ANC owes the company R85 million for banners and marketing material used in their 2019 election campaign.
The ANC says that it is in the process of applying to have the court order set aside.
The ANC claims that Ezulweni Investments was not registered for VAT at the time of the transaction, yet fraudulently charged for it.
The party adds that it will refer the matter to the South African Revenue Service (Sars) for appropriate action.
In 2023, the ANC’s debt to Ezulweni was standing at over R100 million, but both parties agreed to settle out of court.
The ANC further slammed Ezulweni for leaking what it believes is confidential information, describing the move as an attempt to sensationalise the matter.
The party says it will now refrain from discussing the issue in public.
