Cosatu in WC urges provincial govt to create more jobs for residents – SABC News

Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) in the Western Cape has called on the provincial government to create more jobs for residents.

The trade union federation also handed over a memorandum with its grievances to Western Cape government, during a march that it held to mark International Day for Decent Work.

Cosatu Provincial Secretary Malvern De Bruyn says one of the demands is for the provincial government to put an end to the outsourcing of workers across various departments.

“We are here to express our disappointment in the lack of jobs that government is creating for the people of this province and for country and at the provincial government. They are not really assisting us, they are hiding behind Expanded Public Works Programmes (EPWP) and using labour brokers to do the job of people that can be on a full-time basis,” says De Bruyn.
