The High Court in Johannesburg has postponed City Power’s urgent interdict against the Hawks to Friday.

This is to allow the Hawks legal team time to file their outstanding affidavits.

The Hawks raided City Power headquarters, following an alleged irregular tender worth at least R67 million for the procurement of electrical transformers.

According to City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena, the utility has been cooperating with law enforcement from the first raid in November last year.

However, a second request for documents which were reportedly already handed over to investigators has raised serious concerns.

Mangena has explained the execution of this search and seizure is bordering on harassment.

“We had few visits by other officers from the Hawks this year. In August we had the first visit without a warrant. They are looking for the same information that we have provided. They also came again in September, indicating that they have other information that they are looking for. So, we believe that this is really bordering on harassment and that’s why we want this to be stopped,” says Mangena.
