SA Weather: Warm Wednesday with isolated showers
South Africans can expect a largely fine and warm on Wednesday, with a few areas seeing isolated showers and thundershowers as spring weather continues to unfold. According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS), most provinces will remain dry and warm, while parts of the northern and eastern regions could see brief afternoon rainfall.
In Gauteng, conditions will be partly cloudy and warm, with isolated thundershowers developing over the extreme north later in the day.
Mpumalanga and Limpopo will start off cloudy over the Lowveld before clearing to partly cloudy and warm skies.
Isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers are expected in both provinces, with rainfall chances of around 30 to 60 percent, mainly over the northern interior and escarpment areas. Limpopo’s Lowveld and central regions may experience hot daytime temperatures.
The North West province will remain fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy in the northeast by the afternoon. A few isolated thundershowers could develop near the border regions.
Elsewhere, the Free State and Northern Cape will enjoy clear, warm conditions, ideal for outdoor activities. Winds in the Northern Cape will pick up along the coast later in the evening, turning fresh southeasterly.
The Western Cape will see fine and warm weather inland, but cooler, partly cloudy conditions along the south coast. Winds will be fresh to strong in coastal areas by late afternoon. Morning fog patches are expected over parts of the southern interior.
Over the Eastern Cape, morning fog is likely south of the escarpment, giving way to a fine and warm day inland, while the southeast could experience cloudy skies with a chance of drizzle. Coastal winds will shift from light north-westerly to south-westerly by late morning.
KwaZulu-Natal will see morning fog over the interior, followed by partly cloudy and mild to warm conditions. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected mainly in the central and eastern parts of the province, with about a 30% chance of rain. Coastal winds will blow moderately from the east to northeast.
