The inquest into the death of human rights lawyer and African National Congress activist, Attorney Griffiths Mxenge resumes in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.

Mxenge was kidnapped in Umlazi in the south of Durban and brutally murdered in 1981.

The inquest was postponed in July to allow four of the five implicated former police officers to finalise their legal representation from the state.

Judge Pieter Bezuidenhout ordered that SAPS and the state should appear before the court to explain the reasons for the delay, should the legal representatives of the witnesses not be finalized by the next appearance.
