Maumela has been implicated in the more than R2 billion Tembisa tender fraud saga.

He is said to have secured contracts worth over R800 million.

SIU senior communications manager Ngwako Motsieng says they cannot disclose the value of vehicles and other luxury items seized.

“The operation is linked to Tembisa investigation, but however, we are not able to say much at this stage simply because there are legal processes. Once those matters have been finalized, we will communicate further. Unfortunately, we are tied at the moment, we can’t say much, except to confirm that the operation is leaked through the implementation of the SIU investigation outcomes and consequence management. Unfortunately, I cannot say much, except to confirm,” Motsieng.
