Tornado confirmed in Germiston, SA Weather Service to assess damage
The South African Weather Service (Saws) has confirmed a short-lived tornado observed around the Germiston area, in the East Rand region of Gauteng, on Thursday afternoon.
“Saws teams will conduct an on-site damage assessment to determine its intensity,” the weather forecaster said.
More information will be released once the team’s assessment is finalised.
Earlier, Saws reported on developing thundershowers in parts of the country. A Yellow Level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms was also issued.
