Hawks seize ex-official’s assets worth R2.5m in Mpumalanga – SABC News
The Hawks have confirmed that they have seized the assets of a former secretary in the Mpumalanga Health Department. They say the province’s division of the High Court granted them a preservation order to seize Sanele Sanderson’s house in Sunninghill, Johannesburg as well as 3 vehicles.
The assets are worth R2.5m. It is alleged that she stole government funds aimed at serving the community during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
“She received money through deceitful service providers that were paid for services not provided, fake delivery notes were issued and payments were processed,” says Hawks’ Spokesperson Magonseni Nkosi.
Nkosi says part of the unlawful benefits were used to purchase a house worth a staggering amount of R1m, in Barberton.
“The current investigation on the other side proceeds and the directorate is adamant that an arrest will be effected when the investigation is concluded,” he adds.
