University of Fort Hare refuses to oust VC amid student demands – SABC News

The University of Fort Hare (UFH) in the Eastern Cape is adamant that its Vice Chancellor, Professor Sakhela Buhlungu, will not resign.
Protesting students’ demands include Professor Buhlungu’s immediate resignation. They say the Vice Chancellor whose contract has been extended for 12 months has failed to attend to their needs.
The university’s spokesperson JP Roodt says the VC will complete his extended term and not resign.
“The VC is going to conclude his term, which is what he has indicated to us yesterday during our meeting and shanked by this level of anarchy, the academic project will continue, and the renewal project will continue. We will ensure that consequence management occurs when people violate the law.”
