Accused one in Meyiwa trial takes the stand – SABC News

Accused one Muzi Sibiya is the first defence witness to be called to the stand in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial at the High Court in Pretoria.

Sibiya and four others face charges for the 2014 murder of the Bafana Bafana captain.

Meyiwa was shot and killed while at Kelly Khumalo’s mother’s house in Vosloorus on Gauteng’s East Rand.

Sibiya is alleged to have confessed to his role in the murder.

He is alleged to have made a confession statement following his arrest in May 2020.

It is also alleged that he pointed out the crime scene where the soccer captain was shot.

His alleged role was to be on the lookout while two of the co-accused entered the Khumalo home.

Sibiya has denied any role in the murder and denies ever confessing, alleging he was assaulted by police officers and forced to sign the confession statement.
