Ad-Hoc Committee chair cautions against attacks on evidence leader – SABC News
Suspended Deputy Police Commissioner, Shadrack Sibiya, has taken his oath and is currently appearing before Parliament’s Ad-Hoc Committee looking into concerns of national security.
Earlier, committee chairperson Molapi Lekganyane cautioned against attacks on evidence leader, Advocate Norman Arendse.
This after the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) expressed its doubt in Arendse’s abilities.
Arendse had suggested that one of the party member, David Skosana, should withdraw from the committee because he laid criminal charges against witnesses Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and Sibiya.
Lekganyane says such attacks on Arendse can’t be justified.
“This senior counsel (SC) is not SC of Parliament. If any matter relates to rules or conduct, don’t throw it to SC. He has been unnecessarily attacked here, its unjustifiable and we must desist from doing that.”
