Justice Madlanga to rule on witness in-camera testimony request – SABC News
The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry says it expects that there will be some opposition to a request for some evidence to be given in-camera.
On Monday morning, Commission Chairperson, retired Constitutional Court Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, is set to rule on an application for a witness to have highly confidential testimony heard in-camera.
The inquiry resumes following a weeklong break.
Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels says some media houses have expressed intention to oppose the in- camera testimony.
“Justice Madlanga, right at the outset on the 28th of July, at our first public briefing, committed the commission to ensuring transparency as far as possible. So, today we will have an application by the evidence leaders, they will make submissions to the judge and his co- commissioners, to apply to go in-camera and I’m aware that there may be opposition to the application. We’ve had contact from the lawyers of a couple of media houses, who’ve indicated that they may bring an application to oppose.”
