Presidency monitoring Madlanga Commission and Parliamentary probe – SABC News

Presidential Spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says the Presidency is monitoring both the Madlanga Commission and the Ad Hoc Parliamentary Committee as they probe allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanzi.

The Madlanga Commission is a Judicial Commission of Inquiry that is probing allegations of criminality, political interference, and corruption in the criminal justice system.

Magwenya was briefing journalists on the President’s programme in Pretoria.

He says evidence so far has not been against President Cyril Ramaphosa, with only a reference to the Presidency as a whole at the Ad hoc Committee.

He says that should the President give evidence, he will emphasise his non-interference in all law enforcement operations.

“When we do make a submission, one of the key points that we would assert is that at no point in time did the President or the presidency, for that matter, seek to interfere or attempt to interfere with the operations of the services. And we will be able to substantiate that assertion.”
