Human tissue case involving traditional healer back in Pretoria court – SABC News

The case of Mozambican traditional healer Aizeque Cumbuia is expected to return to the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court, north of Pretoria, on Tuesday morning.

Cumbuia is linked to the 2023 murder of 20-year-old Gontse Makhubela and faces a charge of possession of human tissue.

During his previous court appearance, Cumbuia abandoned his bail application and is expected to reapply for bail.

It is alleged that on 7 August 2025, Cumbuia was found in possession of human tissue in a room where he was practicing as a traditional healer.

Makhubela was abducted while at work during the 16 Days of Activism Against Abuse of Women and Children in 2023.

Her decomposing body was discovered by police officers in Brits, investigating the case, where a woman had been killed, her body parts removed, and her body burned.

Two men were arrested after being found in possession of Makhubela’s cellphone, which led police to the traditional healer who was then found in possession of Makhubela’s body parts.
