Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero has vowed to reclaim the city’s inner core. Morero led a by-law enforcement blitz in the Johannesburg CBD today, which forms part of the city’s Inner-City Revitalisation Project.

The clean-up aims to restore order, repair infrastructure and curb illegal trading.

Metro Police, Home Affairs and several departments in the City of Johannesburg were involved in the multi-entity operation. 

“We started a program to deal with illegal trading on the 2nd of October. So, today, I’m here just to conduct oversight to see progress that we are making. There are programs that we’ll be doing in the street in particular, so that we can reclaim it and restore it as part of the broader rejuvenation of the inner city,” adds Morero. 

Morero has emphasised the importance of collaboration and collective action to address the city’s challenges.
