Witness X has exposed WhatsApp messages between attempted murder accused Vusi “Cat” Matlala and KwaZulu-Natal Hawks Head General Lesetja Senona at the Madlanga Commission.

The chats showed the two discussing the purchase of property by Matlala for Senona’s son, Thato.

Witness X is testifying remotely through an intermediary, Thabang Pooe. The witness has informed evidence leader Advocate Adila Hasim that they have been unable to confirm whether the property purchase went through or not.

“You will also see the close relationship that Mr Matlala has with the General’s son and what seems to be the purchase of the property. And you refer to the name of the son. Can you confirm this is the son of General Senona. It is correct, commissioner; Thato is the son of Major General Senona.”
