Firefighting crews are battling to contain a blaze which is threatening properties near Glencairn in Cape Town’s Southern Peninsula.

The City’s Fire and Rescue Spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, says they responded to the scene earlier on Thursday.

“The fire is currently threatening the area near Capri, where most of our resources are situated. Active firefighting is taking place to prevent any damage to property. Furthermore, the fire is running on top of the ridge, in the direction of Ocean View.”

“This fire started just before 1 pm today (Thursday), amid a strong south-easterly wind, which has not abated at all. City firefighters are joined on scene by Table Mountain National Park firefighters and NCC Environmental Services,” Carelse says.
