Summerstrand student stabbed to death, another injured — police hunt knife-wielding suspect
Police in Humewood, Gqeberha, in the Eastern Cape, have launched a manhunt for a suspect after he allegedly murdered a student and injured another during a house robbery in Summerstrand.
Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge said that the male suspect, who is believed to be in his twenties, entered the students’ residence in Admirality Way, Summerstrand, armed with a knife, on October 13, 2025, at approximately 19:15pm.
“He allegedly confronted a 23-year-old female and started stabbing her while she was screaming.
Another 20-year-old female was also stabbed during the incident,” said Beetge.
Beetge further stated that the suspect fled the scene after taking two cellphones and a laptop.
“The injured 20-year-old female was taken to the hospital for medical assistance, but the other victim, 23, died on scene,” said Beetge.
