UFS, students reach agreement on provisional registrations – SABC News

The University of the Free State Executive Committee, Institutional Representative Council, and Campus Student Representative Councils of the three campuses have reached an agreement on the implementation of the phasing out of provisional registration.

University management and student leadership agreed that provisional registration will be phased out over a period of two years (2026-2027).

The university says from 1 January 2026, all students will be on a fully registered system.

Classes have been suspended until further notice on all the three campuses.

Students have been protesting to show their dissatisfaction over the decision by the institution to do away with provisional registration.
