Matric learners urged to uphold honesty, integrity as exams begin – SABC News
Matric learners have been encouraged to maintain honesty and integrity as they begin writing the National Senior Certificate exams from Tuesday next week.
Some matric candidates have publicly committed to uphold the exam code of conduct at a pledge signing ceremony at Vorentoe High School in Johannesburg.
The Gauteng Education Department says it’s confident that the province’s results will reflect the hard work of teachers and learners. Department spokesperson Steve Mabona says security has been tightened.
“We have since improved the warehouse in terms of security. The timing of the paper when it moves from the warehouse to distribution points is well timed, and also adheres to protocols around managing the paper and ensuring that when it is in transit, it’s well guarded like money. We have security that will assist us, and also the scanning and surveillance cameras where we store the papers. We will be working closely with security agencies to ensure that there’s no leakage.”
