A woman accused of running a child pornography distribution ring with her boyfriend has been released on R15,000 bail. 

Tiona Moodley, a 25-year-old web designer was arrested in Houghton on Thursday, January 23. Her boyfriend, Darren Wilken, 35, was arrested in Midrand on January 17 in a takedown operation by a team of investigators attached to the national and Gauteng provincial Serial and Electronic Crime Investigations (SECI) units led by the Component Head for Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS).

The Gauteng High Court this week released Moodley on bail with strict conditions. She has to surrender her passport to the investigating officer and cannot leave the province without permission from the investigating officer. Moodley must also surrender any and all of her electronic devices that have internet access.

She is forbidden from accessing the internet and was ordered to stay away from State witnesses. Furthermore, she cannot communicate with Wilken without his lawyers being present. She has to report to the police station in Garsfontein bi-weekly.

Wilken’s bail application has been refused.

The couple is due back in court on October 22.
