Ireland dealt triple injury blow

Ireland have suffered injury setbacks ahead of their match against the All Blacks in Chicago next Saturday.

Coach Andy Farrell has been forced to reshuffle his squad after a bruising weekend of Vodacom URC action, with several key players picking up knocks.

Star winger Mack Hansen has been ruled out after suffering a foot injury while scoring for Connacht against the Bulls. Centres Bundee Aki (hip) and Robbie Henshaw (groin) remain part of the travelling group but will be monitored throughout the week.

To cover for the midfield injury concerns, Farrell has called up uncapped Munster centre Tom Farrell and Leinster utility back Jimmy O’Brien.

Meanwhile, cover players Edwin Edogbo and Brian Gleeson (both Munster) have been withdrawn due to concussion and an elbow injury respectively, leaving Connacht’s Shayne Bolton as the only additional squad member.

Ireland open their November Test campaign against New Zealand in Chicago before hosting Japan, the Wallabies and the Springboks in Dublin.
