The murder trial of alleged underworld figure Jerome “Donkie” Booysen is expected to resume in the Western Cape High Court today.

Booysen and eleven co-accused face multiple charges, including the murder of alleged steroid smuggler Brian Wainstein in 2017.

The court is currently hearing a trial-within-a-trial to determine the admissibility of recorded phone conversations as evidence.

A man referred to as Sabela, a former gang member familiar with the prison language, remains under cross-examination.

Booysen’s legal team has questioned the credibility of the witness.
