Makazole Mapimpi has received a heavy suspension that rules him out of the Springboks’ end-of-year tour.
The veteran Sharks winger was among 10 players named in a standby group by Bok coach Rassie Erasmus.
Mapimpi has been slapped with a five-match ban for a dangerous tackle on Ulster fullback Michael Lowry at Kings Park last Saturday that resulted in a red card.

The judicial officer overseeing the disciplinary process ruled that the incident met the red card threshold, with a low-end entry point of six weeks.
However, the ban was reduced by one week after the player acknowledged and accepted that foul play had been committed.

Mapimpi could not claim to have a clean disciplinary record, having received two red cards in 2023 and 2025.
