Free State police arrest 21-year-old woman for drug possession
A 21-year-old woman from the Free State was arrested for drug possession on Tuesday, after police intercepted her and discovered that she was in possession of drugs.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Palesa Thabana said that police allegedly received a tip regarding a woman who may have been transporting drugs to an inmate awaiting trial in court.
The alleged suspect was seen at Weeber Street during the police investigations.
“Permission to search was requested and granted, and a thorough search of the alleged suspect was conducted privately, during which she was found in possession of mandrax tablets, which were concealed on her body,” said Thabana.
Thabana further stated that the drugs were found wrapped in plastic and placed inside a sock.
“Police confiscated 50 Mandrax tablets estimated to be valued at R3,000.”
The suspect was arrested for possession of drugs and is expected to appear before the Odendaalsrus Magistrate’s court soon.
