Case of two Hawks officers accused of graft postponed to next month – SABC News

The case of two senior Hawks officers accused of corruption has been postponed to November 12 in the Polokwane Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Limpopo.

The officers allegedly approached the investigating officer to seek to get rid of evidence linking former African National Congress (ANC) MPL Tally Mashamaite to the murder of Mogalakwena councillor Vaaltyn Kekana.

Kekana and an ANC member Ralph Kanyane were shot dead in what is suspected to be a politically motivated hit in 2019.

Magistrate Daniel Mabitsela informed the accused Captain Virginia Kupa and Brigadier Mapome Mohajane, about their charges.

Mabitsela says, “You being public officers directly or indirectly and unlawfully intentionally gave or agreed or offered to give gratification to give tenders, a promotion at work to any other person, to Malesela Simon Mogale in order to act personally or by influencing any other person to act in a manner that amounts to the illegal, dishonest and unauthorised of biased exercise, helping Tally Mashamate in a case investigated by the complainant by dismissing evidence that linked Tally.”
