Lavender Hill teen killed in suspected gang-related shooting
A 19-year-old teenage boy was gunned down in Lavender Hill in the Western Cape in what police believe may be another gang-related shooting.
Western Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on Saturday evening, 25 October 2025, at about 18:15, in Aspeling court, Lavender Hill, where a 19-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded, are under investigation.
“Police members attended to the crime scene, where they found the victim with gunshot wounds to his body.
“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The motive for the attack is believed to be gang-related.”
Twigg said the suspect/s fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.
Steenberg detectives are investigating a murder case.

In another shooting incident this week, three teenagers died in Westbury, Johannesburg, while five escaped with bullet wounds.
The teenagers aged between 13 and 19, were approached by gunmen on foot.
National police commissioner Fannie Masemola visisted the crime scene this week vowing action against gang-related violence.
