Two suspects arrested after 64-year-old woman found murdered in her Hibberdene home
Police in Hibberdene, KwaZulu-Natal, have arrested two men in connection with the brutal murder and robbery of a 64-year-old woman whose body was found inside her home earlier this month.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza confirmed that the suspects, aged 24 and 36, were apprehended on Thursday, October 23, in connection with the killing of Mrs Khanyisile Ngwane.
“Police in Hibberdene arrested two suspects aged 24 and 36 years old for murder and possession of property suspected to be stolen,” said Magwaza.
Ngwane’s lifeless body was discovered in a pool of blood inside her home at the Nhlabamkhosi area in Mthwalume on October 14. According to police, valuable items were also stolen from the house.
“Police were summoned to the crime scene, and initial investigations revealed that the victim’s residence was also robbed of valuable items,” Magwaza said. “A case of murder and house robbery were registered at Hibberdene police station.”
The investigation led officers to the Nyangwini area, where a 24-year-old suspect was found in possession of items believed to have been taken from Ngwane’s home. Later that same day, a 36-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder.
“They will appear at the Mzumbe Magistrate’s Court on Monday, October 27.”
