Eight suspects have been arrested following a business robbery at Sunderland Ridge in Centurion, south of Pretoria.

Police say the suspects robbed the store at gunpoint and loaded the stock into a truck, and drove off while being escorted by another vehicle.

Security was alerted and traced the truck and the vehicle to the R55 road near Raslouw in Wierdabrug.

Gauteng Police Spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says a shootout ensued between security guards and the suspects.

“Shots were fired between security personnel and suspects. In the process, one suspect and a security guard sustained gunshot injuries. The police were called during the shooting, and eight suspects, including the injured one, have since been arrested. Two firearms, the truck and the vehicle were also seized for further investigations,” says Nevhuhulwi.
