Kimberley man receives 25-year imprisonment for fatal attack on girlfriend
 
A 39-year-old man from Kimberley has been sentenced to 25 years direct imprisonment for the murder of his girlfriend.
Thabiso Juel Sekamoeng was sentenced and convicted on Wednesday by the Northern Cape High Court, for the brutal murder of his 34-year-old girlfriend Lerato Cathrine Ntaolang.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Merapelo Pilane said that on January 11, 2025, the victim, was visiting the accused at his residence in Dithakong village when an argument ensued.
“During the altercation, the accused struck the victim on the head with a sharp object and fled the scene, leaving her in a pool of blood.”
Emergency Medical Services personnel later declared the victim deceased at the scene.
The incident was reported to the Bothithong Police Station, and the suspect was swiftly arrested and charged with murder on the same day,” said Pilane.
Pilane further stated that Detective Constable Lucky Mabuthwane was assigned to investigate the case and through his meticulous investigation, bail was successfully opposed, and the accused remained in custody throughout the trial.
“The court subsequently convicted and sentenced him to 25 years of direct imprisonment. He was further declared unfit to possess a firearm,” said Pilane.
