On Monday, Itumeleng Moramaga, 41, mother of Tshiamo, described her heartbreak over the killings.

Shock and anger have gripped the Mamelodi East community after two young women, Tshiamo and Baleseng Moramaga, were found shot dead on Sunday morning.

Speaking  to IOL News she said she was informed of the tragedy by her eldest sister, mother of Baleseng.

“When I arrived at the scene, I found that they had died, and they were already inside the forensic vehicle. I asked to see them, and when I did, I saw that it was them – they had been shot,” she said, tearfully.

Neighbours reportedly heard arguments and gunshots during midnight.

They said Tshiamo had been arguing with her alleged boyfriend, who allegedly warned, “You will push me to make mistakes,” before the gunfire.

According to the mother, Tshiamo’s phone was missing after the shooting, while messages on Baleseng’s phone showed they had been communicating shortly before the incident.

She said the two young women had grown up together, attending crèche together and even wearing matching clothes.

Tshiamo had been studying beauty therapy, specialising in nails and hair, while Baleseng was a third-year Bachelor of Education student at the University of South Africa (Unisa).

“We are shattered as a family. We never expected such a tragic thing to happen to them,” the mother said.

“The pain I am feeling now, I can’t even wish on my enemy. We want justice for them. Women and children are getting killed every day. We want the police to get to the bottom of this and find out what happened.”
