Man arrested for allegedly killing younger brother in fight over phone charger



A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his younger brother over a phone charger. 

Free State police said the man is accused of stabbing his 21-year-old brother on Monday multiple times at their home. 

Police spokesperson Sergeant Palesa Thabana said police were summoned to a murder scene in Winburg on Monday, October 27 2025, at approximately 3pm. 

On arrival at the scene police discovered a male lying motionless inside the house.

“It is alleged that the 21-year-old victim was fatally stabbed three times by the suspect following an argument over a phone charger.”


 Police said the victim sustained stab wounds to his mouth, chest, and shoulder and died on scene. 


Thabana further said that police confiscated two knives found at the scene of the crime.

The 32-year-old suspect initially fled the scene but was later traced and arrested by police,” said Thabane. 

The suspect is expected to appear before the Winburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, on a charge of murder.
