Ekurhuleni on high alert as SAWS warns of severe thunderstorms – SABC News


The City of Ekurhuleni Disaster Management Emergency Services says it remains on high alert for any eventualities as the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issue warnings for severe thunderstorms across large parts of the country including Gauteng.

The Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 4 warning for the central and eastern Free State, while a Level 2 warning has been issued for the North West, Northern Cape and southern Gauteng.

Ekurhuleni Emergency Spokesperson William Ntladi says, “Those who stay in wetland areas should be on high alert as flooding is imminent and again due to the strong winds that are blowing, those who reside next to huge trees, as that can be blown off it might be of a detrimental effect to them whereby at the worst case scenario it might result with fatalities and property loss.”
