Police launch investigation after human remains found in Limpopo

Human remains were discovered in a shallow grave in Chebeng Village, Limpopo, according to police.

Provincial police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba said the discovery was made on October 31, at around 8 am, and the matter was officially reported to police the next day.

“The police received information about human remains found in the area and immediately proceeded to the scene. Upon arrival, they were shown what appeared to be a human skull protruding from the ground,” said Ledwaba.

Ledwaba stated that further investigations led to the discovery of a shallow grave, where the rest of the skeletal remains were found inside a plastic sack, and the body was already beyond recognition.

“The remains will be subjected to forensic analysis to determine the identity of the deceased and the cause of death,” said Ledwaba.

Ledwaba further confirmed that police investigations are continuing.
