WATCH | General Khumalo says cartels recruit active SAPS officers as hitmen | Madlanga Commission
Lt. General Dumisani Khumalo, head of SAPS Crime Intelligence, delivered explosive testimony at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, revealing alarming levels of corruption and infiltration.
Khumalo confirmed that a serving SAPS officer was part of the hit squad that murdered Armand Swart. He detailed how criminal cartels recruit members within the justice system.
The Crime Intelligence head further revealed that the crucial December 6 operation targeting key figures Molefe and Matlala was sabotaged by insiders working to defeat the ends of justice.
Khumalo explained that external Special Task Force units were deployed due to security risks posed by Matlala’s former operatives and that a DPCI individual, Captain Zungu, is allegedly working with the cartel.
This testimony exposes a deep-seated crisis of trust and security within the South African law enforcement agencies.
