Reiger Park mass shooting: Arrested suspect released as police question 18-year-old

The suspect arrested in connection with a drive-by mass shooting in Reiger Park, Boksburg, has been released due to lack of evidence.

The suspect, who had been arrested by the anti-gang unit on Monday, was released on Wednesday.

Gauteng police spokesperson, Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, said investigations are ongoing and an 18-year-old has been brought in for questioning.

Six victims were killed and three others wounded in what police described as a drive-by shooting on the evening of November 1, 2025, in Williams Road in Reiger Park, Boksburg.

“It is reported that in the afternoon of Saturday, November 1, 2025, two vehicles, a silver Polo and a black Polo, came to this area and started shooting randomly,” said Nevhuhulwi.

She added that the motive for the shooting was not yet known.

Nevhuhulwi said police continue to appeal to the community for their support in the ongoing fight against crime.

“The public can report any criminal activities on the Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111 or anonymously provide tip-offs on MySAPS App.”
