Tragic discovery: Missing KwaZulu-Natal man found dead in Richards Bay
The search for Rajankumar ‘Boya’ Sew, a 57-year-old man from KwaZulu-Natal, has ended in tragedy as his lifeless body was discovered in a bushy area of Aquadene, Richards Bay, on Thursday afternoon.
The grim revelation follows a harrowing series of events that began when Sew was reported missing on Tuesday following his failure to return home.
He had left his home to visit Brackenham Clinic and was travelling in his white Toyota Avanza which was later seen driven by unknown people.
His family reported him missing after receiving a distressing ransom demand that led to the initiation of police investigations into potential kidnapping and hijacking.
“The family has since received an anonymous call demanding R5000 before the car was stripped. It could not be established if the call was made by a scammer after the vehicle was circulated missing or the suspect himself,” said Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA).
According to RUSA, Sew, a retired salesman, was found brutally murdered before his body was abandoned.
Investigators later recovered Sew’s vehicle, which ultimately led to the arrest of two suspects who are allegedly linked to the crime.
RUSA confirmed that the family was in contact with them and confirmed that the remains of their loved one had indeed been located.
The unit added that Sew’s body was recovered following the arrest of two suspects
A query was sent to KZN police, and they are yet to respond.
