Three people wounded in another Westbury shooting incident

Two adults and a one-year-old child have been shot and wounded in Westbury, Johannesburg. Police say the victims were shot on Thursday night by two gunmen who were chasing and shooting at someone who ran into the victims’ house seeking refuge.

The victims were rushed to hospital for medical attention.

Gauteng police spokesperson, Mavela Masondo, says a manhunt has been launched to find the suspects.

“A case of attempted murder has been opened after three people, including a one-year-old child, were shot and injured in Westbury on Thursday, 13 November 2025, at approximately 20h30. It is alleged that two suspects were chasing and shooting at a man who ran into one of the houses in Westbury. The suspects followed the man to the house. The bullets hit three people who were in the house, while the man who was chased managed to escape. The injured people were taken to the nearest medical care centres in a serious but stable condition. The search for the suspects is underway.”

Last month, two teenagers were shot dead and five others were wounded following a gang-related shooting. Police and government officials visited the area and announced that there is a plan to deal with gang violence.
