Help change little lives by attending the Christmas Market at Christine Revell Children’s Home

This November, the spirit of giving takes centre stage in Athlone, where Christine Revell Children’s Home is hosting its annual Christmas Market.

The event not only promises festive fun but also plays a vital role in supporting the 50 children who rely on the home for safety and care.

As a registered Child and Youth Care Centre, the home provides 24-hour care for children aged 0 to 5 years, many of whom have been orphaned, abandoned, abused, or neglected.

While the organisation is registered with the Department of Social Development, government funding covers only 60% of its operational costs, leaving the remaining 40% to be raised through donations, community support, and ongoing fundraising efforts.

The Christmas Market, taking place on Saturday, 29 November, invites local vendors, families, and supporters to celebrate the festive season while making a meaningful impact.

Attendees can enjoy handmade crafts, baked goods, festive treats, children’s activities, and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. All proceeds will go directly towards the care, nourishment, and development of the children at the home, and hopefully provide them with a Christmas present.

“We rely heavily on the kindness of our community,” said the management team. “Every contribution, big or small, helps us ensure that our children receive the love, safety, and stability they deserve.”

The event promises a joyful celebration with a powerful purpose, offering the community a chance to support a long-standing institution that has served Athlone for decades.

“For many, participating in the Christmas Market is more than a festive gesture; it is an opportunity to change a child’s life.”
