Widespread power outages hit Tshwane ahead of G20 Summit
Tshwane is experiencing widespread power outages on Wednesday morning, days before the G20 Summit.
The City of Tshwane said a team of technicians has been dispatched to investigate the cause of the outage. However, no time frame has been provided for the restoration.
The Union Buildings and Pretoria CBD have been plunged into darkness.
“Customers will be kept abreast of developments. The city apologises for the inconvenience caused to the affected customers,” it said.
The affected areas include Groenkloof, Muckleneuk, Arcadia, Sunnyside, Berea, UNISA, the Union Buildings, and parts of Pretoria Central.
Last week, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said there would be no water or electricity shortages during the G20 Summit.
He said the City had intensified its service delivery operations ahead of the G20.
