Mashaile hails Ad Hoc Committee’s visit to hear Matlala’s testimony
Security analyst, Andy Mashaile, has commended the parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee’s willingness to visit Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre in Tshwane to hear Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala’s testimony‘s testimony directly.
Matlala, currently awaiting trial, faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit murder.
He is at the centre of allegations of police infiltration and corruption within the justice system.
Matlala allegedly conspired to disband the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) along with Police Minister Senzo Mchunu who is on special leave.
“I am certain that from a threat risk assessment, the portfolio committee would then have been advised that it is important and safer and cost effective for the Ad Hoc Committee to go where Mr. Matala is, because Mr. Matala is a key to the downfall of many other people who might have been related to him. Those who have benefited from him, they would obviously want to unalive him so that they can have their lives normal going on,” says Mashaile.
He says Matlala’s appearance before the Ad Hoc Committee from the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre is expected to be significant.
“Mr. Matala is at the center of serious allegations as belted out by Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. So, the testimony is very, very critical in the establishment of the linkages of the minister – one. The second part of the linkage would also revolve around General Sibiya. Remember, whatever he’s going to say is going to create more chaos and damage for others who have been mentioned, and others that may come out as a result of his testimony.”
