SACP warns ex-KZN PEC members of disciplinary action
The South African Communist Party’s (SACP) national leadership says former KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) members who are protesting their disbandment will face disciplinary action.
The former PEC members are adamant that processes were not accurately followed and that they will remain in office.
The party says the structure was disbanded over its failure to fulfil its constitutional responsibilities earlier this month.
SACP spokesperson Mbulelo Mandlana says the SACP is not a federal organisation where provinces function independently of the central point of the party.
“We recognise that there are some people in KZN who pretend that the status of the former PEC of KZN has been unchanged, even by the decisions of the politburo. Those people who act in that way are acting in contravention of the constitution of the Communist Party and the party has methods and means to handle matters like that. We’d like to put it out there to our members that the appointed interim leadership will have all the constitutional authority that is given to an interim structure to lead in the province and that issue is closed from a central point as far as we are concerned as the party.”
