Search resumes for two people swept away by floods in KZN
The search has resumed for the two missing people who were swept away following heavy rains at New Hanover in the uMshwathi Local Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal midlands.
The two are among the three people who were reported missing after heavy rain battered the area on Sunday night, leaving houses and roads severely damaged.
On Monday, rescue teams recovered the body of a woman believed to be in her forties.
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs(Cogta) MEC Thulasizwe Buthelezi is expected to visit the affected areas on Tuesday.

District commander for uMgungundlovu fire services, Mbulelo Dlamini, says they anticipate today’s search to be challenging because of the amount of debris in the river
“I think we’re still going to experience similar challenges like yesterday’s one because the debris is too much in the river. We suspect that they might be trapped under huge chunks of trees like yesterday’s female body, but we’re hoping that everything will go as planned. I’m also further told that NSRI will be coming as well to assist us in trying to locate and retrieve these two remaining bodies.”
