SCOPA seeks concurrence to prosecute RAF’s Letsoalo
The Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA) will approach National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza seeking concurrence to prosecute former Road Accident Fund (RAF) CEO Collins Letsoalo.
This is after Letsoalo has defied summons issued to him by SCOPA.
The committee is conducting an inquiry into possible maladministration at the Fund.
It set aside Tuesday and Wednesday for his testimony, but he didn’t pitch on both days despite summons issued against him.
The committee has now decided to invoke a section of the Powers and Privileges Act relating to witnesses.
“Necessary steps should be undertaken in order to make sure that, that criminal investigation takes places that charges are laid criminal investigation takes place and then the matter has to be taken forward by the relevant authorities,” says SCOPA Chairperson Songezo Zibi,
