Matlala cites SAPS contract issues for meeting with KZN top cop – SABC News
Attempted murder accused Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala says the serious problems he had with his South African Police Service contract prompted his meeting with KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Matlala says the problems included payment delays, which forced him to inform the former Police Minister Bheki Cele.
According to Matlala, Cele then offered to arrange a meeting with Mkhwanazi, who he said had close ties with the person responsible for overseeing the contract.
Matlala, who is testifying before the Ad Hoc Committee sitting at the Kgoši Mampuru Correctional Facility in Pretoria, says that following the meeting, Mkhwanazi agreed to assist in the matter.
“I was complaining to General that I’m not getting purchase orders and then my payments are being delayed. And I told him that the head of this contract is General Nkhuoa. So, I suspect that maybe General Nkhuoa, there’s something that she’s not happy with the contract or something. And he said to me, he knows General Nkhuoa, but the person who is very, very close with her is General Mkhwanazi. That’s when he arranged that meeting with General Mkhwanazi.”

Matlala has unveiled an alleged cash demand by former Police Minister Bheki Cele. He has detailed how he went to a bank at Pretoria’s Menlyn Shopping Mall to withdraw R300 000.
He told Members of Parliament that the money was allegedly requested by Cele.
Matlala, who resigned as a company director in December, said his sister Claudette Masethe now the director, joined him at an FNB branch to make the withdrawal on his behalf.
At the time, Cele was reportedly waiting at Matlala’s penthouse apartment near the mall.
