Level 4 and 2 weather warnings issued across SA – SABC News


The South African Weather Service has issued a yellow level 4 and level 2 warning across the country on Tuesday.

The forecast includes severe thunderstorm and fire danger alerts, which will result in potential risks such as flooding, hail, strong winds and dangerous fire conditions.

The South African Weather Service urges people to stay alert and safe.

 

KwaZulu-Natal

The weather service expects severe thunderstorms, strong winds and hail for various parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

A level 5 warning is forecast for areas in the northern part of the province whilst level 4 has been issued for areas along the coastline including eThekwini and those in the midlands.

Authorities say disaster management teams are on high alert as the warnings can pose serious risk to human life.

“In terms of these warnings, level five severe thunderstorms warning has been issued for Abaqhulusi, Hluhluwe, eDumbe, Jozini, Nkandla, Mtubatuba, Ulundi, uMlalazi and uPhongolo. A level 4 severe thunderstorms have been issued for the following areas parts Alfred Duma, Indaka, big five Hlabisa, Hluhluwe, NDZ, eThekwini, Impendle, Estcourt. Residents are urged to exercise utmost caution; disaster management teams will closely be monitoring these areas,” says KwaZulu-Natal Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs spokesperson Senzelwe Mzila.
